The Green Bay Packers are fully expecting right tackle Bryan Bulaga and outside linebacker Nick Perry to come off the PUP list and be ready for the start of the regular season.

Coach Mike McCarthy said both players are “chomping” to go now and expressed unwavering confidence in both Bulaga (knee) and Perry (ankle) to play Week 1 against the Chicago Bears.

“I have confidence in both Bryan and Nick that this will not threaten the beginning of the season,” McCarthy said Thursday.

McCarthy said Bulaga looks “great” after an offseason of rehabbing his surgically repaired knee in Green Bay. The Packers starting right tackle tore his ACL in November.

“Bryan has really, from early in the rehab, been ahead of the game,” McCarthy said.

Perry had offseason surgery on his ankle and missed the offseason workout program. He’ll be expected to start opposite Clay Matthews in Week 1 against the Bears.

Many assumed Bulaga would be in significant danger to miss the start of the regular season, with some believing he’d have to begin the year on the PUP list. Having Bulaga on track for Week 1 would help solidify the right tackle position and clear up much of the uncertainty about the right side of the offensive line.
